Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma of English literature. Mitchell began her career working as a TV and radio reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. 1976 Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Within two years she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. In 1981, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988, she became the chief reporter for Congress. Then, in 1992 she was named the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both an anchor and a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. She was on the panel in the presidential debates in 1988 with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's initial White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell reported on a variety of important stories including the Iran Contra scandal, budget tax reforms and arms control. Mitchell travelled with President Ronald Reagan many times for summits, and to discuss issues like the Iran Contra controversy.
